Kevin Power Biography
An accomplished rock drummer and traditional bodhran player of many years experience. He first played drums in a band called 'Triangle' with brothers Donal and Michael in the late 70s. In the 80s he moved to Dublin to follow his love of rock and rhythm & blues, where he played in rock band 'The Facets', and later, 'Empty Shell', making numerous T.V. and radio appearances. He has also played traditional music for many years, and has taught and played bodhran in Ireland and the U.K. He recorded several tracks in America with an Appalachian folk group in the 90s.
A qualified graphic designer, Kevin changed career and qualified as a practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine, and he now has a thriving practice in Dungarvan, where he and his wife Orla run an alternative health clinic. Kevin holds a diploma in Jungian psychology, and has trained in the U.S. and the U.K. over several years in shamanic drumming and core shamanism, thus combining his love of drumming, spirituality, and healing. He lives in Cappagh, Co. Waterford, with Orla, their two daughters, Caoimhe and Alannah, their three-legged cat Mossie, and several beehives.
